Dr. Stephan Schäfer

Profile

Dr Stephan Schäfer is a partner at ZENK and a bar-certified specialist lawyer for commercial and corporate law (according to JUVE “often recommended”).

Dr Schäfer studied law in Bayreuth and Parma, Italy. From 2010 to 2013, he was a research assistant and managing director of the Research Centre for German and European Food Law at the University of Bayreuth. He completed his doctorate there on European private law. His legal clerkship took him to the Federal Foreign Office, a major international law firm and the German Embassy in Lisbon before finally leading him to ZENK in Berlin.

He specialises in the food, FMCG and medical technology sectors. He leads the ZENK Food Deal Team. This team bundles ZENK’s expertise in the areas of regulatory, M&A transactions and strategy for the food industry. Dr Schäfer is also a sought-after expert on supply chain law and environmental and social compliance issues (e.g. German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act – LkSG, CSDDD, CSDR, Deforestation Regulation). Dr Schäfer has particular expertise in the contractual and procedural modelling and implementation of innovative business models.

Dr Schäfer is a lecturer at the University of Bayreuth and the author of numerous articles.

He is also Managing Director of Aktuelles Recht für die Praxis GmbH (AfP GmbH) and Managing Director of the Association for the Promotion of the Research Centre for German and European Food Law at the University of Bayreuth.
