ZENK Rechtsanwälte Partnerschaft mbB is an independent, full service commercial law firm with approx. 40 attorneys, a notary office, a mediation practice and a tax consulting service at its offices in Hamburg and Berlin. It advises on national and international projects in all core areas of commercial law. Our clients include medium-sized German companies, international corporations and public institutions at federal, state and local level.
ZENK was founded in Hamburg at the beginning of the 1970s. At present, approx. 25 lawyers and a tax consultant advise clients at the Hamburg office on Neuer Wall.
During the reunification of Germany in 1991, the Berlin branch was opened in the government district to establish a presence in the newly emerging political and cultural metropolis.
At present, the Berlin office at Reinhardtstraße has approx. 16 lawyers. It also has its own notary office.

ZENK lawyers have been listed and awarded as leading advisors in the German legal market for years in various renowned rankings in the various fields of law. These rankings are based on surveys of various media among legal colleagues (peer-to-peer reviews) and other market participants such as clients.
Handelsblatt: ZENK lawyers among Germany's best lawyers in construction law, health law (food law) and advertising law
Exclusively for the German Handelsblatt, the US publisher Best Lawyers annually identifies the leading advisors in the German legal market on the basis of an extensive peer-to-peer survey. The lawyers are nominated by colleagues and market participants and then evaluated in an anonymous survey. The ranking is also published exclusively in the Handelsblatt as “Germany’s Best Lawyers“.
2020 was the tenth year in a row that Alexander Baden received an award in the field of building and planning law. Sigrid Roskosny and Dr. Peer Feldhahn were also repeatedly honored, as were Anja Teiwes, Florian Werner and Bastian Voll for the first time. In real estate law, Alexander Baden and, for the first time, Dr Henrik Nacke, Dr Oliver Nowoczyn, Martin Richter and Victoria Vollstedt, LL. M. were awarded. In mergers and acquisitions (M&A) Jan Dietze was awarded, in corporate law Dr Bastian Schmidt-Vollmer, LL. M. was awarded. In public commercial law, Dr. Kostja von Keitz was awarded, in environmental law Dr Wolfgang Hopp and Dr Ralf Hüting were honored. Dr Carsten Oelrichs was awarded for the tenth year in a row for advertising law and food law (health care).
FOCUS Magazine: TOP commercial law firm for construction law
Also for the sixth year in a row, the construction law department at ZENK was listed as a recommended commercial law practice by the FOCUS editorial team in their special edition on “Germany’s Top Lawyers 2020”. The list is categorized into 24 specialist areas of law. The Germany-wide ranking is based on recommendations from peers and surveys of legal departments in companies.
JUVE Handbook of Commercial Law Firms
JUVE “Handbuch Wirtschaftskanzleien” is a reference work of the German legal market. The publication is based on extensive research carried out by an independent editorial team among law firms, corporate managers, representatives of public authorities and employees of the judiciary and academia.
ZENK has been mentioned in the JUVE Ranking and ZENK lawyers are recommended for many years now. Legal 500 Germany survey
“The Legal 500 (Germany)” is a detailed qualitative review of law firms and lawyers in 48 specialistareas and is used as a referenceby professionals and clients. Every year, the editorial staff interviews hundreds of lawyers and records around 14,000 customer references.
In the 2020 survey, ZENK was listed in the rankings for the Hamburg metropolitan region and the Brandenburg/Berlin metropolitan region with special mention of Dr. Bastian Schmidt-Vollmer and Dr. Michael Hackert as well as Dr. Martin Düwel and Dr. Kostja von Keitz. The trademark and competition law expertise of the team led by Dr. Stefanie Hartwig, Dr. Carsten Oelrichs and Sonja Schulz was also acknowledged.
