Dr. Stephan Schäfer
Profile
Dr. Stephan Schäfer studied law in Bayreuth and Parma, Italy, from 2003 to 2010. From 2010 to 2013, he was a research assistant and managing director of the Research Center for German and European Food Law at the University of Bayreuth. There, he completed his doctorate on European private law. His legal clerkship led him across stations at the German Foreign Office, a major international law firm and the German Embassy Lisbon, finally to ZENK in Berlin.
Dr. Stephan Schäfer has been an attorney at ZENK since 2016 and a partner since 2021. He operates in the field of corporate and commercial law in advising and assisting private or public companies as well as start-ups. In particular, he advises on restructurings, shareholder disputes, and the drafting and negotiation of contracts with a focus on development and delivery services.
His industry focus is on food, FMCG and medical technology. He leads the ZENK Food Deal Team and is an expert in supply chain law and environmental and social compliance issues (e.g. Supply Chain Sourcing Obligations Act – LkSG, human rights etc).
Dr. Stephan Schäfer is a lecturer at the University of Bayreuth, lectures and publishes regularly on civil and corporate law topics. Since 2021, he has also been a specialist attorney for commercial and corporate law.
He is managing director of the company Aktuelles Recht für die Praxis GmbH (AfP GmbH). Dr. Stephan Schäfer is also managing director of the Association for the Promotion of the Research Center for German and European Food Law at the University of Bayreuth e.V. (Verein zur Förderung der Forschungsstelle für Deutsches und Europäisches Lebensmittelrecht der Universität Bayreuth e.V.)
