Profile

Theodor Schmitz-Wätjen, born in 1994, studied law at the University of Bremen. During his legal traineeship in Hamburg and Bremen, he already focused strongly on private construction law, completing placements at a construction chamber at the Bremen Regional Court, a mid-sized law firm specializing in private construction law, and an international full-service law firm.

Since February 2024, Theodor Schmitz-Wätjen has been a lawyer at ZENK, advising clients primarily in private construction and architects’ law. His work includes drafting contracts, providing legal guidance to all parties involved in the planning, execution, and completion of complex construction projects, as well as defending or asserting claims both out of court and in (arbitration) proceedings.

Theodor Schmitz-Wätjen is a member of the German Bar Association’s Working Group on Construction and Real Estate Law (ARGE Baurecht) and has been attending the specialist lawyer course for construction and architects’ law since early 2026. As a Swiss citizen, he is also a member of the European Lawyers’ Association DACH.
